In another sign of the growing ubiquitous of Twitter, the trustee seeking to recover assets for convicted Ponzi scheme operator Bernard Madoff’s victims has joined the information-sharing service.
Irving Picard, the Madoff trustee, and his lawyers have started a Twitter account, @MadoffTrustee, to share updates and announcemetns regarding his recovery efforts, his spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Mr. Picard has filed more than 1,000 lawsuits and has recovered about $ 11 billion of the $ 17.3 billion in invested principal estimated to be lost in the Madoff fraud.
Mr. Madoff is serving a 150-year prison sentence after he admitted in 2009 to carrying out a decades-long fraud scheme.
